Your first appointment

What to expect at your consultation

Your first appointment usually lasts around 30 minutes. Mr Hakimi will ask about your symptoms, examine the joint and review any scans, and may arrange an X-ray on the day.

Please bring

  • A list of your current medicines
  • Any previous X-rays, scans or reports
  • Your insurer’s pre-authorisation code, if insured
  • Loose clothing, so the hip or knee can be examined

Referrals

Three ways to be seen

Self-referral

If you’re paying for yourself, you can book directly without seeing your GP first.

GP referral

Your GP can write to Mr Hakimi. A referral letter helps if you’re using insurance.

Insurer referral

Contact your insurer first for a pre-authorisation code, then book your appointment.
