Biography

Hip and knee surgery, from first assessment to revision

Mr Hakimi qualified in medicine in 2001 and trained in trauma and orthopaedics in the North West, including at Wrightington Hospital, one of the UK’s best-known centres for hip and knee surgery. He then completed a hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship at Chapel Allerton Hospital in Leeds.

He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in trauma and orthopaedics in 2016, completed his surgical training in 2017 and was appointed consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust in 2018.

His practice covers primary and complex hip and knee replacement, including robotic-assisted surgery, revision surgery, keyhole (arthroscopic) knee surgery, infected joint replacement and complex trauma. He is a high-volume joint replacement surgeon, carrying out around 500 hip and knee replacements a year. He also offers non-surgical care, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and Arthrosamid® injections, for patients who are not ready for, or do not need, an operation.

Most people I see don’t need an operation straight away. My job is to explain what’s causing the problem and help you choose the option that fits your life.
